Old manuscripts often have a weak binding, missing parts and torn pages. They are incredibly fragile and may continue to deteriorate unless it is stabilised. This beautifully illuminated Quran from Terengganu came with a detached book cover, with many missing parts. Underneath the doublure, thick and hardened adhesives were present, that was damaging the manuscript. Take a look at the painstaking removal of this adhesive.
