About the event:

In conjunction with the ‘Oceans That Speak’ exhibition, the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia invites you to participate in a workshop on making your own traditional shadow puppets, a hands-on experience in creating life-sized wayang kulit figures, reflecting the scale of performance puppets, while also learning the techniques in assembling the tunes needed for a wayang kulit performance using traditional musical instruments.

Wayang Kulit is a traditional shadow puppet performance, typically staged on a platform, accompanied by a musical ensemble and featuring intricately crafted puppets representing various characters.

Mohd Jufry Yusoff is an expert on Kelantan shadow puppetry (wayang kulit) and malay traditional music instrument from Bachok, Kelantan. As a student of renowned puppet master Mamat Semail, Mohd Jufry has more than 30 years of experience in wayang Kulit and traditional music performances in Malaysia and overseas.
