About the event:
In conjunction with the ‘Oceans That Speak’ exhibition, the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia invites you to participate in a workshop on making your own traditional shadow puppets, a hands-on experience in creating life-sized wayang kulit figures, reflecting the scale of performance puppets, while also learning the techniques in assembling the tunes needed for a wayang kulit performance using traditional musical instruments.
Wayang Kulit is a traditional shadow puppet performance, typically staged on a platform, accompanied by a musical ensemble and featuring intricately crafted puppets representing various characters.
The Instructor:
Mohd Jufry Yusoff
Mohd Jufry Yusoff is an expert on Kelantan shadow puppetry (wayang kulit) and malay traditional music instrument from Bachok, Kelantan. As a student of renowned puppet master Mamat Semail, Mohd Jufry has more than 30 years of experience in wayang Kulit and traditional music performances in Malaysia and overseas.
