Oceans Unbound Roundtable by Imagined Malaysia

15 June 2025
10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Auditorium, Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia
Free (Entry to galleries is subject to museum entry fee)

About the event:

This roundtable builds on the exhibition Oceans that Speak and the public history campaign Malaysia Unbound. It brings together historians, curators, archivists, activists, and public scholars to explore how trans-regional history—focusing on mobility, migration, and cross-border connections—can empower Malaysians. By highlighting inclusive narratives that challenge constructs like race, gender, and borders, the discussion aims to show how these boundaries have historically been crossed and negotiated.

*This event will be conducted in English.

Siti Marina binti Mohd Maidin, Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia

Dr. Sumit Mandal, Asia Research Institute, National University of Singapore
