About the event:
In conjunction with the ‘Oceans That Speak’ exhibition, the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia invites you to participate in a talk to explore on the history, origins, and types of ships, covering their design and construction, the uniqueness of sails, and the rigging of Malay boats.
The Instructor:
Professor Madya Kehormat Dr. Ahmad Jelani Halimi
Associate Professor Dr. Ahmad Jelani Halimi is a former lecturer at the School of Distance Education (PPPJJ), Universiti Sains Malaysia. He specializes in the history of Southeast Asian Maritime and serves as the Chairman of the Malaysian Historical Association, Perak branch. With his expertise, he also works as an independent writer and researcher. Some of his published books include Malay Trade and Shipping in the Strait of Malacca, Malay Maritime Laws, Malay Maritime Legacy, and several other books.
