About the event:

In conjunction with the 'Oceans That Speak' exhibition, the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia invites you to revive the heritage of Kesenian Sulaman Tekat.

Seni Tekatan is a form of textile embroidery on velvet fabric. Tekatan is also known as suji timbul, which refers to raised embroidery. The decorative patterns are all created using gold threads in a raised form from the fabric’s surface, with the interior filled with mempulur.
