On Faith and Identity: The Qur’an Mushafs…

19 September 2024
10.30 a.m. - 11.30 a.m.
Education Workshop, Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia
Free (Entry to the galleries is subject to ticket entry)

About the Event:

The overland silk road and the seaborne spice route served as the gateways of the advent of Islam in China. The interactions and exchanges along these routes have influenced the art of beautifying the Qur’ans. The cultures and traditions of various Muslim ethnic groups in China also left their imprints on the illuminations and ornaments found in the Chinese Qur’ans.

This sharing session will explore  the beauty of illuminations decorating  Qur’an mushafs from China, as well as their connections to the Islamic world and identity as Chinese Muslims.
