About the Event

In conjunction with the Oceans That Speak exhibition, discover the art of traditional Langkasuka wood carving in this exclusive workshop at IAMM. Guided by professional woodcarver Mohd Zarir bin Abdullah, you’ll learn to craft the intricate “tongue of fire” motif, inspired by the Malay Langkasuka (God’s Petal) design from the 6th century. This unique pattern, influenced by the Majapahit and Ayutthaya dynasties, represents the elements of earth, water, and fire, going beyond traditional floral and foliage motifs.

Immerse yourself in this hands-on experience and gain insight into the rich heritage of Malay craftsmanship.
