About the Workshop
In conjunction with More than a Day as a Tiger: The Legacy of Haider Ali and Tipu Sultan of Mysore (1761–1799), the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia warmly invites you to participate in our Calligraphy and Visual Art: Calligram workshop.
Let’s explore the beauty of Arabic calligrams—where calligraphy and imagery come together in a single, expressive art form. In this hands-on session, you’ll learn the distinctive Diwani Jali script and design your very own calligram under expert guidance.

The Instructor:
Mohd Zulfikri bin Mohd Sobri
Head of Department at Yayasan Restu, with over 20 years of expertise in Arabic calligraphy. Experienced in Qur’anic transcription and the writing of royal decrees for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, he has also represented Malaysia in international calligraphy exhibitions and conferences across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
