Inspiration-Imagination-Interpretation: Mosques of Malaysia was an exhibition presented by The Association of Voices of Peace, Conscience and Reason (PCORE). It highlighted a collection of sixty- four artworks by twenty-one artists executed in several styles in a variety of mediums. Through the artist’s eye and skilful hands, this painting collection depicted the diverse architectural styles prevalent in Malaysia, which derives its influence from the early Southeast Asian heritage as well as the Middle East and beyond.
It also captured the aesthetic moods of the traditional roofs and facades as well as the finesse of the introduced domes and minarets.
The uniqueness of this collection was that it documents a selection of Malaysian mosques through the eyes of contemporary Malaysian artists, who cherish the aesthetic and artistic form, while proudly highlighting Malaysia’s cultural heritage.
