The Scholar’s Library at the Islamic Arts Museum Malaysia specializes in the fields of art, architecture, culture, science and history as well as in the civilizations of the Islamic world. The library serves the academic communities, researchers and the museum staff. It hosts over 16,000 volumes and is divided into three sections: Open Shelf Collection, Reference Collection and Special Collections. The Special Collection section contains publications from the 18th until 20th centuries such as early edition books, rare and out-of-print books in addition to the limited edition publications that specialize in variety of fields. The main objective of this exhibition is to introduce the IAMM Scholar’s Library to the public and offer its services to the academicians and researchers. On display is a glimpse of the late 18th until 20th century published books, which highlights the western travelers’ interest and their fascination towards the Islamic World. The exhibition also calls attention to the publications specialized in the arts of Islam which is made apparent in ceramics, textiles, metal works, literature, architecture and a lot more. Many of the books on display are unique editions that have been considered as important reference material by expert scholars in the field of Islamic Arts.
